Lisa Lampanelli Wrote a Play About Body Image

On Friday, "Stuffed" an off-Broadway play written by comedian/playwright Lisa Lampanelli Lampanelli debuts at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre in New York City. In it, Lampanelli writes about what women face when it comes to body image.

“Stuffed” centers around four women struggling with food and body image issues. One of the characters in the play is based on herself, a person who struggled with overeating for years. A recepient of weight loss surgery, Lampanelli finally got self confidence recently, but found inspiration in a friend who embraced body positivity. “She’s just such an inspiration. If I had been able to have had that confidence, I wouldn’t have had to have the weight loss surgery,” Lampanelli says to The Huffington Post. “I wouldn’t just be getting confidence at age 55.”

Body positivity got on Lampanelli's radar when she started interviewing young women. "I'm like, 'Oh my God." If I said that when I was 22, think of the stuff that I would have escaped."

"Stuffed" runs from Friday until November 6.
