Op-Ed: What's Going On with Strutter?

Maybe it's a question you haven't asked. But it's a question Strutter's been asking for the past month.

Strutter helped break the news about Eloquii and Walmart. And then, nothing.

Not exactly cool for a website that boasts about covering news in the plus size industry.

Then again, there wasn't a lot to report about.

Did Strutter really want to shine a light on Bryanboy trying to take the crown from Karl Lagerfeld as fashion's biggest troll? Or Rebel Wilson's backpedal when she claimed that she was the first leading actress of size and tried to silence her critics?

More recently, River Island moved its plus size collection from in-store to online only. Victoria's Secret admitted to not caring about the plus size and transgender communities (then apologizing for it) and H&M X Moschino's bait-and-switch featuring a plus-size model in its campaign but not carrying plus sizes anywhere in the line made some buzz. But news? Hmmm.

These past few weeks, it feels like Strutter is on the losing end when reporting about the plus size movement. One day, it makes a giant leap, only to have six giant backsteps.

But as a community, we're used to this. For every yes, there are 1001 nos based on our size. Or it feels like that at times.

But there were some highlights: Danielle Brooks' Fashion to Figure line, the launch of Fatventure (which yours truly took an ad out in), Lizzo's campaign to play Ursula and "Dietland" finding a new audience on Hulu.

The struggle continues for Strutter. Much like the movement itself.
