"We're More Than A Number:" Beth Ditto on Plus Size Fashion

Musician/clothing designer Beth Ditto spoke to WWD this weekend at the Girls To The Front benefit she co-hosted for the Girls Rock Camp fundraiser at Chateau Marmont in LA, to honor Motown president Ethiopia Habtemariam and songwriting duo Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels. In between her hosting duties, she talked about her clothing line, identifying as a feminist, and inclusiveness in fashion. Ditto on fashion and plus-size: "I think it’s a new idea in mainstream pop culture, but there’s a lot of consciousness shifting so hopefully it’s one of those things that’s included in the scope of fairness and marketing. We’re more than a number." Ditto's advice for those who struggle with body acceptance: "...[I]t’s remembering every negative feeling that you have. Everyone has them, no matter how big or small they are. Just because you’re thinner doesn’t mean you’re going to be happier."
