Jessie Cave "Harry Potter" Actress Talks Body Image
From our Partner website Fabuplus Recently actress Jessie Cave spoke out about her struggles with body image and being treated differently on set after gaining weight while filming “Harry Potter.” Cave portrayed the character Lavender Brown in “The Half-Blood Prince” after the role was recast for the later movies in the “Harry Potter” franchise. In “The Half-Blood Prince” Caves’ character becomes enamored with Ron Weasly and the pair has a PDA filled relationship until Weasly confesses that he has feelings for Hermoine. Cave returns as Lavender Brown in "Deathly Hollows" part one and two in a smaller role. Cave talks about her return to set saying, "I was treated like a different species. It was horrible. It was probably more me and my insecurity, knowing that I wasn't fitting into the same size jeans, but it wasn't a time where actresses were any bigger than a size eight, and in the previous film I had been, and now I was a size 12. So that was horrible. It was a really uncomfortable experience.” Since her role in “Harry Potter” Jessie Cave has gone on to feature in many movies and TV shows “Pride” (2014), “Black Mirror” (2017) and “Benjamin” (2018). Clave is also an author, comedian, and artist. However, despite this success she still feels the effects of gaining weight in an unforgiving industry. "You get a bit bigger, or you're not as relevant, and it goes off, and you have to make your way in the dark. I definitely felt invisible when I gained a little bit of weight," Cave said. "And since then, it's made me have weird issues with weight and work. And it's so f---ed up, but it's just how it is. Women have to deal with that all the time."
