NBA Officials Benched by NY Judge for Sexual Harrassment

A NYC judge ruled against the NBA for using offensive photos of women in orientation programs for incoming rookies, according to the Daily News . Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lucy Billings released the photos (including the one above) used by the league's Rookie Transition Program orientation sessions along with her decision today despite the NBA's objections. “The photographs ... both demean women and represent a culture of sexual harassment and misogyny,” says Billings. The ruling came in the case of ex-NBA security director Warren Glover, who claims he fired by league officials in retaliation for supporting female NBA employees who complained about harassment. He also testified on behalf of former NBA worker Annette Smith, who quit her job with the NBA after representatives from the league forced her to use offending photos in a PowerPoint presentation for the new players. Glover applauded Billings' ruling, and pointed out how the NBA gives stiff fines for coaches and players who show inappropriate behavior. “The mothership is committing gross violations of the law,” he said. “Now the whole world can see it.” NBA had no immediate comment.
