Schumer Slams Size Snafu

Actor/comedian Amy Schumer has called out Glamour magazine via Instagram for adding her on the cover of the magazine collaboration with Lane Bryant, according to WWD. “I think there’s nothing wrong with being plus size," says Schumer in her IG comment. "Plus size is considered size 16 in America. I go between a size 6 and an 8. @glamourmag put me in their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn’t feel right to me." A spokesperson for Glamour says the cover mention didn't necessarliy call Schumer plus-size. "The cover line on this special edition...simply says ‘Women Who Inspire Us,’ since we believe her passionate and vocal message of body positivity IS inspiring, as is the message of the many other women, of all sizes, featured." While Schumer's cover name-check has her aligned with some fierce women (Adele, Melissa McCarthy, Ashley Graham), the fact that her name is mentioned on the cover is misleading. A fact checker could have easily verified Schumer's dress size (not like it's anyone's business, BTW), but it can make a young woman who's already having issues with her size more confused: Since when is a size 8 plus-size? If Amy Schemer is considered "plus size", what does that say about me? About our society? The cover has opened up a discussion, but not in the way that Glamour or Lane Bryant hoped.
