Size Representation Declined at Fashion Month Fall 2020

Fashion Month for Fall 2020 saw a decline in not just plus size inclusivity, but in racial and gender diversity, according to The Fashion Spot . Plus-size castings plummeted from 86 models last season to 46 models for fall 2020, a 0.49% point difference (I trust The Fashion Spot with this number). Of all the cities New York Fashion Week had the most plus-size castings with 27 appearances, which Christian Siriano was credited for the most size inclusive show in NYC (even with Rene Taylor 's show in consideration?), and Milan had the least body diversity with two plus size models. Gender diversity declined in the fall 2020 season. There were 21 castings of transgender and non-binary models during Fashion Month, a drop of 46 models in Fashion Month in Spring 2020. Fall 2020 saw a slight drop in racially-inclusive shows at Fashion Week fall 2020, from 41.5% to 40.6%. The only uptick were casting models over 40 years old. There was an uptick of age representation of 44 models in Fashion Week fall 2020, up slightly from 44 for fall 2020. Earlier this month, Strutter asked why plus size influencers are still covering Fashion Month despite the decline of representation. Maybe the question for the plus size influencers, and anyone who follows Fashion Month, is why aren't more influencers taking designers, model casting companies and others involved in New York, Paris, London and Milan Fashion Week (respectively) to task about the overall decline?
