Spring 2017 Fashion Shows Were Diverse, But Not Inclusive

While the catwalks at the Spring 2017 fashion shows were the most diverse ever, it didn't make any strides in size inclusivity.

According to The Fashion Spot, which tracks how many models were in each show for its biannual diversity report, more than one fourth of models were women of color, the highest percentage in recent history (74.6 percent were white models; 25.4 percent were models of color).

The New York shows in September had the most diverse and plus size models, thanks to Christian Siriano, Tome and Tracy Reese casting curve models in their shows. Still, six out of the nearly-3,000 model were by plus-size women—just two more than the 14 last season. Slow and steady wins the race?
