Dating App to Ban Fat Shamers

WooPlus, a dating app for plus size people, will ban men who insult women on its site.

According to Yahoo, users can note harassers by reviewing, rating, and commenting on the profiles of men they’re messaging with. According to WooPlus' press release, if the user has enough poor reviews and ratings, he is banned from the site.

WooPlus discovered more than 70% of its female members were harassed on the app due to their weight. The “Tinder for Curve Lovers,” decided to develop the user-suggested checks-and-balance system after conducting the in-house survey. “Although we know that on regular dating apps, many women have experienced unfair treatment, we were still shocked at the final result of this study,” said WooPlus co-founder Michelle Li.

This new feature is "a layer of accountability not usually associated with online dating," says Li. "We are willing to sacrifice anything to retain the level of quality and inclusiveness on which the app was created.”
